Grace That Covers Completely

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9

I feel humbled by God’s word this morning. Reminding me just how lost and broken I am without Him. Yet, equally reminding me of how God’s grace covers me completely. There isn’t a single part of me that’s left out or overlooked. Every wound and heartache, every tear shed, every weakness, every failure – covered. COMPLETELY. That’s what grace does.

What Is Grace?

“A divine gift of favor, love or mercy.”

Do we deserve this? Absolutely not! But Jesus died on the cross for our sins, showing us that gift of grace. Freely given to us. One we shouldn’t take lightly. One that in the past maybe I haven’t fully grasped or understood in the way He meant it for my life. The raw selflessness He underwent, laying His life down to set us free and live in freedom for Christ. I can only respond in awe. It’s HUGE.

Grace is a divine gift, the unearned favor, love, and mercy of God.

Understanding Sin

You might be reading this and wondering what “sin” really means.

As Christians, we believe that all of us are born sinners. Sin isn’t just about doing wrong things. It’s about missing the mark of God’s perfect holiness.

It’s the same feeling we get when we let someone down – a parent, a friend, or even ourselves. That sense of falling short. Not exceeding the expectations of those around you.

Well, it’s that same feeling with sin and God. Sin creates a barrier between us and God.

He wants to connect with us, He wants that relationship with us but sin is what inherently hinders our ability to fully connect with him.

It’s both internal and external – it shows up in what we do, think, and desire. It’s not just an action problem; it’s a heart condition. It affects us all in many different ways. Sin DOES indeed have consequences, in this life and on into eternity.

And the truth is, we can’t fix it on our own.

The Heart Doctor

Sin is easily summed up as a heart condition, one that needs a healer, and that’s exactly who Jesus is.

When He died on the cross, He took the punishment that was meant for us. The barrier between us and God was broken, the way made clear for forgiveness and relationship. He has washed us clean. He has removed our transgressions from us, as far as the east is from the west. Picture that!

That’s grace – unearned, undeserved, yet freely given.

The love of God reaching down to cleanse us and make us whole again. Wash us white as snow.

You Are Seen and Loved

The Lord loves you.

He made you unique, with gifts no one else carries.

He sees you. Every thought, every tear, every hope.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

Nothing about your life is unnoticed or forgotten. You are known, chosen, and loved by the One who gives grace without measure.
